Select at least one option to generate PDF.This qualification will provide you with practical skills and knowledge in a range of metals and engineering industry areas including mining, manufacturing and marine. You will learn skills in using tools, measuring and calculating, technical drawing and drafting, thermal cutting, metal lathes and milling machines. You will also learn about safety in the workplace, computing and mathematics. You will use the skills you have learned in a classroom workshop environment when undertaking work placement.
This course is part of the Lower fees, local skills initiative. From 1 January 2020 through to 31 December 2025 you'll only pay half the course fees, capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession, plus resource fees and other fees that may apply to your course.

150 hours of work placement is mandatory for completion of this course. This will involve your attendance at a workplace/worksite during the program depending on the host employer and availability. Please see the Work Placement Bulletin (opens in a new tab) for further information.
