Description
As part of the response to COVID-19, The State Government has funded a new skill set to support workers in the aged care, disability and health service industries to gain vital infection control skills.
The new COVID-19 Direct Care Skill Set will increase the number of skilled workers in the aged care and disability sectors and minimise the risk of exposure to an infectious disease.
As part of the course, students will learn about the basis of infection from viruses to bacteria as well as modes of transmission, infection prevention and control - including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling contaminated waste.Â
Certification
Participants complete three nationally accredited units:
• HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures;
• HLTWHS005 Conduct manual tasks safely; and
• CHCCCS011 Meet personal support needs
Completion of this course will count towards a Certificate III in Individual Support qualification, for students who want to continue their training in the future and receive the full qualification.

The Infection Control Skill Set is designed to give you job ready skills to follow organisational infection prevention and control policies and procedures. This includes implementing standard and transmission-based precautions and
responding to infection risks in organisations operating in the retail industry.
This skill set is suited to retail settings such as supermarkets, shopping centres, cinemas, petrol stations, beauty salons, gyms and hairdressing salons.
Certification
On successful completion of this course, students will receive a statement of attainment for the following units

The Infection Control Skill Set is designed to give you job ready skills to follow organisational infection prevention and control policies and procedures. This includes implementing standard and transmission-based precautions and
responding to infection risks in organisations that include food handling in their operations.
This skill set is suited to those working in hospitality, particularly in food handling and front of house. Skills can be applied to specific industry needs such as using kitchens and packaging areas, staff rooms, food stock deliveries, bathrooms and toilets.
