Entrance requirements

Students applying for a full time qualification during our online application periods must meet literacy and numeracy requirements for that course, or have successfully completed a lower level qualification.

How do I find the entrance requirements for my course?

Search and choose a qualification you are interested in applying for on our website

Read the information in the 'Entrance Requirements' section.

What documents will I need?

On request via email you will be asked to provide a range of documents to TAFE Admissions to show you meet the required level of literacy and numeracy.

These documents may include:

• School results – NAPLAN Yr 9 band 8 or OLNA

• WACE Certificate

• Other completed qualifications

• Bridging and access courses

Other documents may be used to demonstrate minimum literacy and numeracy skills.

Applicants unable to provide documentation may be offered a Literacy and Numeracy test, which can be taken at Bunbury, Albany, Perth and selected regional campuses.

Bridging courses in English and Foundation Skills are available to improve literacy and numeracy levels.

How do I apply for full time courses?

Visit the website tasonline.tafe.wa.edu.au during our application period and complete the application form.

Once we have received your application we will work with you to help you understand how you can meet the entrance requirements and how to address the selection criteria, if required, for your chosen course.

How much does it cost to apply?

There are no charges to apply for a course or to change your preferences. Course fees will apply at the time of enrolment.

What does Competitive and Non Competitive mean?

Some courses we expect more people to apply than there are places. Applicants who can demonstrate minimum Literacy and Numeracy Skills will be assessed and ranked against the Selection Criteria. Offers will be made to applicants with the highest total point scores.

What are the Selection Criteria?

Selection criteria are academic and other criteria (e.g. work experience, industry involvement and current and previous employment) which are used to rank eligible applicants in a competitive course where there are usually more applications than places available.

How do I address the Selection Criteria?

If the courses for which you are applying stipulate that you address selection criteria this means that you need to submit additional information such as:

• Secondary Education Results

• Any fully completed qualification

• Employment

• Work Experience

• Community Services/Volunteer Work

The additional information you provide can be in any work area or industry it does not necessarily have to relate to your chosen course of study for you to gain points.

*Note: To verify the work experience or employment that you cite in your application you will be required to provide copies of either a written reference, pay slip or group certificate/summary.

Resumes and telephone references are not acceptable authentication.
