In a year marked by outstanding achievements, students at South Regional TAFE's Margaret River campus have made remarkable progress in their Certificates in Spoken and Written English.
Throughout 2023, students in Certificate II and III programs seized exciting opportunities to enhance their language skills, both within the classroom and through immersive excursions into the local community. Exploring Margaret River's cultural gems, such as the library, Community Pantry, Community Garden, and op shops, provided a firsthand experience of community life.
The students' journey included captivating outings to witness Artzability's performance of 'The Lorax' and a thought-provoking film screening on Harmony Day by the AMR Shire. Inspired by a visit to Vinnies op shop, some students found a calling to volunteer their time for charitable causes.
Adding a valuable dimension to their learning, guest speakers from Ishar (Multicultural Women's Health) and Hepatitis WA visited the campus, delivering crucial health information to the eager learners.
At South Regional TAFE Margaret River, classes are meticulously tailored to individual language levels and are available three times a week, allowing students to progress through the three certificate stages.
Many of these diligent learners are participants in the federally funded Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP), which provides free services to eligible migrants and humanitarian visa holders, enabling them to enhance their English language skills and seamlessly integrate into Australian life. As the year comes to a close, South Regional TAFE is already gearing up to welcome new enrolments for the year 2024.
