This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to undertake the role of first line of management in a wide range of organisational and industry contexts. You may have existing qualifications and technical skills in any given vocation or profession, yet require skills or recognition in supervisory functions. At this level frontline managers provide leadership and guidance to others and take responsibility for the effective functioning and performance of the team and its work outcomes. You will learn management strategies including how to implement an operational plan, show leadership in the workplace and promote team effectiveness.

This qualification is aimed at staff working within a team who are looking to take on more leadership roles and may be acting as 2IC to a manager. Although there is no entry level requirements for this qualification the assessment material would be difficult to complete if you are not currently working and /or have no experience working in a team environment.

When you complete the Diploma of Leadership and Management you will have what it takes for a career as a team leader, middle manager or supervisor. You will gain the career enhancing knowledge and skills to build and lead a team, manage budgets and financial plans, oversee staff performance, identify and manage risks, and play a leading role in project planning. You will acquire knowledge of marketing and valuable experience in managing projects and in effective teams. Completion of the Diploma of Leadership and Management opens up a range of further study options and it may give you advanced standing towards a university degree. Students should have a significant employment history with some experience in high-level administration or staff supervision to better relate to the course content. The units in Traineeships are customised according to the individual Training Agreement that is negotiated with the employer and may vary (within the Qualification rules) in each case.

MAA37 OSH for Supervisors Short Course Albany


This workshop will clarify your responsibilities when implementing occupational health and safety in your workplace. It covers the main legislative requirements and how to navigate your way through these sometimes complex documents. You will also learn how best to implement policies, procedures and programs in line with the legislation and how to keep up to date. 
Who should attend? 
Senior and middle managers, supervisors and team leaders who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in OHS and WHS, and anyone responsible for the safety of others, is encouraged to attend.

• OHS legislation and compliance requirements 
• Identifying hazards and assessing and controlling the risks 
• Implementing an effective OHS/WHS management system 
• The importance of consultation in the workplace 
• Implementing OHS training.

The Certificate IV in Project Management Practice is a level 4 AQF (Australian Qualifications Framework) qualification, designed for students seeking to move into a supervisory and management position across a wide range of organizations and industries. The course develops the skills and knowledge needed to provide leadership and guidance to others and take responsibility for the effective functioning and performances of a team and its work outcomes. At a Certificate IV level students are expected to acquire both theoretical and practical skills and knowledge, which is related to real activities in the workplace (or a simulated workplace if required), some of which are individual and others which are group based. Students will be expected to complete some work, study and reading outside of the allocated classroom delivery sessions.
