Metal fabricators (boilermakers) and welders build, maintain and repair metal products and structures. Learn the skills and knowledge required to manufacture, assemble and maintain mining structures, heavy transport and earth moving equipment, bridge building, engineering components, building structures, refineries, oil-rigs, storage vessels, shipbuilding and agricultural equipment. Duties may include fitting, assembling and joining aluminium, steel and other metals.

Gain practical skills and knowledge to participate in planning and managing plant shutdowns and taking a leading role in the establishment of systems intended to prevent or enable responses to incidents or emergencies. Learn about safety case preparation, incident response management, plant documentation and environmental impacts of the process.

Comprises trade training as machinist metal, mechanical fitter, metal plating and plant mechanic where you’ll learn practical skills to make and repair machines, parts and tools.

Machinists are responsible for the maintenance, repair and manufacture of metal products and machinery. Machinists use a variety of equipment to create new and replacement parts. Study pathways encompass a variety of streams and specialities, including fitting and machining, fluid power and computer numerical control (CNC).
