As a student of South Regional TAFE, the following electronic services are available. For password assistance, refer to Password Help section below.
YOUR TAFE ACCOUNT
Your TAFE account details are:
- Username: Your Student ID
- Default Password: TafeDDMMYYYY (where DDMMYYYY is your date of birth, e.g. Tafe25121999)
- Email Address: StudentID@tafe.wa.edu.au
Your account:
- is automatically provisioned the day after you enrol
- provides access to on-campus computers, Wi-Fi, Office 365, One Drive, Blackboard and Library Research Resources listed below
- is provided on the basis of the Conditions of Use below
To setup your account and enable you to recover your password, complete the steps outlined in the Setup Your Account section below.
Setup Your Account
Once your account is provisioned, please complete the setup process below to enable:
- your online password reset facility
- the One Drive mapping to H: drive on South Regional TAFE computers
Perform these steps to complete your account setup:
- Logon to an on-campus computer
- Click the OneDrive desktop icon
- Click Next on this "Additional info required" page

- Click the "Set it up now" links to enter your phone and/or email (ensuring at least one of the authentication options is configured and shown with a green tick)

- Click Finish
- Confirm that the "Your OneDrive is ready" message appears
- Restart the computer to allow H: drive to appear
Password Help
Default Password
Your default password is TafeDDMMYYYY (where DDMMYYYY is your date of birth, e.g. Tafe25121999)
Forgotton Your Password?
Reset your password online at https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com
. Otherwise, call into the Library to reset your password.
Password Expired?
Your password will expire every 90 days. To change your password once it has expired, either:
- From an on-campus computer, login and the computer will prompt you to change your password
- Reset your password online at https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com

Once you’ve changed your password, ensure you change all of your devices and applications.
Change Your Password
To change your password at any time, either:
- Login to an on-campus computer, then press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and select Change Password
- Reset your password online at https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com

Once you’ve changed your password, ensure you change all of your devices and applications that use your TAFE Account.
Password Lockout
To protect your account from security breaches, your account will be locked out if 5 failed login attempts occur within 15 minutes. Once locked, you will need to wait for 15 minutes before your account is unlocked so you can enter a correct password. If you need to reset your password, go to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com
.
If your account is being locked out, ensure that the password is correct on all of your devices for all relevant applications including Wi-Fi.
Password Policy
Your password must:
- be changed at least every 90 days
- be at least 8 characters long
- not have been used previously
- not use any part of your name or username
- include characters from 3 of the following 4 character sets:
- uppercase
- lowercase
- number
- special character (eg. . !@#$%^&*())
Password Recommendations
To ensure security of your account, it is recommended that the password you choose has:
- No names of anybody or anything associated with you (e.g. relatives, workmates, friends, pets), spelt either forward or backwards
- No numbers associated with you (e.g. vehicle license plate number, telephone number, mobile phone number, street number), spelt either forward or backwards
- No word found in an English or foreign language dictionary, spelt either forward or backwards
- No place names, spelled either forward or backwards
- No proper nouns, spelled either forward or backwards
WI-FI
Free wireless internet is available at all SRTAFE campuses in accordance with the Conditions of Use. The connection details are:
- Wireless network name (SSID): SRTAFE
- Username: Student ID or Staff ID
- Password: Your TAFE Account password

Office 365 is provided whilst you are enrolled and includes:

To sign in, click Office 365 and logon using your TAFE Account
Upon completion of your studies, consider migrating to a Personal Office 365 account as your TAFE Office 365 account will close 3 months after your enrolment ceases. For questions and assistance, refer to Microsoft's FAQs at https://products.office.com/en-au/student/office-in-education.
OUTLOOK EMAIL
An email address is automatically created for you upon enrolment.
- Your email address is StudentID@tafe.wa.edu.au
- Your password is your TAFE Account password
To sign in, click Office 365
ONE DRIVE FILE STORAGE
OneDrive (part of Office 365) is used to store your files and can be accessed with your TAFE Account using either:
- a web browser by signing into Office 365 and selecting OneDrive
- the OneDrive desktop icon from an on-campus computer
- the OneDrive mobile app
- the H: drive of an SRTAFE on-campus computer (the H: drive will only appear on an on-campus computer after completing the steps in the Setup Your Account section above)
BLACKBOARD
To sign-in, click Blackboard and use your TAFE Account.
If you use Blackboard and do not attend at any campus, please complete the steps in the Setup Your Account section above to ensure you secure ongoing access to your TAFE Account.
MOODLE AND OTHER LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
There are currently two instances of Moodle as follows:
- Moodle (Albany, Mt Barker, Denmark, Katanning)
- Moodle (Bunbury, Busselton, Harvey, Collie, Margaret River, Manjimup)
Logon to Moodle using your Moodle Account, details of which can be obtained from your lecturer or administration once you are enrolled in a Moodle unit.
Other learning management tools including Dental Assistant, Profile 21, LLN Robot, CDX Heavy Vehicle, and Rural Skills Australia are managed by your lecturer. If you need access to these applications, please contact them.

CONDITIONS OF USE
South Regional TAFE provides computing resources to assist students complete their studies and the use is a privilege.
Students are to use the resources in a responsible manner and respect the integrity of computer systems, networks and data, and the rules and regulations governing their use as detailed below.
- All use of computer resources must be directly related to your course/qualification
- You must not reveal your password to others nor use another person’s account
- Installation of any software or hardware, or changing the configuration of any equipment is prohibited
- You may not act in any way that may disrupt the use of the network or computing resources
- Seeking to gain un-authorised access to college computer systems is prohibited
- It is prohibited to use college services for malicious purpose
- The use of college services for commercial activity is prohibited
- You may not use college services to create, host or transmit material, or engage in activities that could cause offence to others
- All information accessible via the network should be assumed to be private property
- You must not use college services for any activities which contravene the laws of Australia or its states and territories, or of the destination country in the case of data being transmitted abroad
Monitoring of computer usage, including email and Internet use, is carried out regularly. South Regional TAFE reserves the right to retrieve any item/file on the computer system at any time, including email, and information accessed via the Internet.
Consequences for misuse/abuse of computing resources:
- Warning
- Loss of privilege to use computing resources
- Referral to administration for discipline
- Referral to authorities for legal processing
Depending on severity, the disciplinary process may include combinations of consequences.
Some South Regional TAFE computing resources are provided using self-signed SSL Certificates which encrypt login and other personal account credentials.
In order to access these computing resources you will be required to accept these Certificates. In doing so, you accept that your use of computing resources provided my South Regional TAFE is at your own risk. Neither South Regional TAFE nor its providers will be liable for any loss, damage, cost, expense or liability arising from any claims due to your use, misuse or attempted use of any facility or service covered by this Agreement.
