Margaret River music students celebrate success with first showcase

Our music students are set to play their hearts out at the River Hotel on Friday 4 September, demonstrating their passion and dedication to the South West music scene.

In a musical first for the region, the TAFE student showcase will bring together a variety of student acts to perform hip hop, rock, pop, virtuoso guitar and electronica.

Lecturer Chris Archibald thanked The River hotel in Margaret River for giving the students the chance to perform at a venue which has hosted many famous artists.

“I would encourage everyone in the community who has a passion for live music to come down and support these students,” he said.

“They are clearly extremely talented and have put in a lot of work and practice to make this happen —come and see these artists before they become famous.”

The event is a TAFE student collaboration with the commercial cookery, hospitality and digital media students.

Margaret River Campus Manager Judith Reynolds said it was fantastic to see all the students working together and supporting this event.

“I know the students are very excited about this opportunity,” she said.

“It’s a wonderful example of how our students can work with the community to put on a unique, locally created experience.”

The musical acts will include Leeuwin Hyatt, Wilbur, Baylea Shae, Jiminy (Alberto the Shadow), Jarrad Eddy, Lou Cully, Sarah Rose, Groogies, Negative Appeal and Phase Lock.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $5 each.

For more information on the gig, see the event on the South Regional TAFE Margaret River Facebook page, phone Chris Archibald on 6371 3610 or email
