Students welcome financial help

Students at the Bunbury, Albany, Katanning and Denmark campuses will find the cost of study a little easier because of the generosity of scholarship sponsors.

The college is indebted to the Jack Family Charitable Trust, Western Power, the Grist Family and the Denmark Music Foundation for funding a total of 41 scholarships in Semester 1.

At the Bunbury campus, presentations were made to 18 students taking the pre-apprenticeship course in electrotechnology, for which Western Power will fund all fees for the entire course.

In Albany, six electrotechnology students were presented with Western Power scholarships and 20 students from a diversity of courses each received $500 scholarships from the Jack Family Charitable Trust.

Two music students at the Denmark campus each received $750 scholarships donated by the Grist Family, and a third benefited from $500 funding from the Denmark Music Foundation.

Next week, one student in Katanning will be handed her $500 scholarship from the Jack Family Charitable Trust.

At the ceremonies, South Regional TAFE Managing Director Duncan Anderson expressed his sincere appreciation to the sponsors for their valuable commitment to facilitating vocational education for the college’s students and also for their encouragement of, and reward for, academic effort.

More scholarships will be available to students in Semester 2.
