Cream of the crop in the Great Southern

Albany child care worker Caitlin Puls took out South Regional TAFE’s top regional honour at the college’s Awards Night on Thursday, and Eden Coyne and Mitchell Sargeant, also of Albany, won college-wide awards.

Presentations were made to the highest-achieving students of 2018, who were joined by their family and friends, sponsors and industry partners at the Albany Entertainment Centre.

Ms Puls, who qualified with the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, was named Vocational Student of the Year for the Great Southern.

Also in the Great Southern awards, Ms Coyne (Preparation for Health and Nursing Studies) earned the title of Aboriginal Student of the Year and Mr Sargeant (Engineering) was named Apprentice of the Year. Both were then announced overall winners after being judged against their South West regional counterparts.

All were nominated by their lecturers for their diligence and application to their studies as well as their outstanding work.

Two other major award winners for the college’s Great Southern region were announced. Rashell Francis (Early Childhood Educaton and Care) was named Trainee of the Year and Ronice Preston (Information, Digital Media and Technology) took out the title of Female Student of the Year.

Awards were also presented to Students of the Year from three Albany training areas as well as campuses at Esperance, Katanning and Denmark-Mt Barker.
