Description
This course is for people who want to work in traffic management on public roads and other designated traffic management areas.
It will provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to be able to safely control traffic with a stop/slow bat in accordance with Main Roads WA requirements and to implement basic traffic management plans for works on roads.
The course covers:
Planning and preparation
Setting out traffic guidance scheme
Monitoring traffic guidance schemes
Closing down traffic guidance scheme
Controlling traffic
Operation of communication devices
Planning, Preparing and co-ordinating traffic
Operating Radios
Clean Up
Entry requirements
Participants must provide:
- A valid driver's licence, or evidence of previously having held a driver's licence (no learner's permits or moped licences)
- A White card (Safety Awareness Training) in order for attendees to complete the logbook component of the training on a construction site
Students must have literacy and numeracy skills to a level that will allow them to complete the written component of the assessment.
Certification
On successful completion of this course, students will receive a statement of attainment for the following nationally accredited units:
RIIWHS201E - Work Safely and Follow WHS Policies and Procedures
RIIWHS205E - Control traffic with stop-slow bat
RIICOM201E - Communicate in the workplace
RIIWHS302E - Implement traffic management plans
Students will also receive a Main Roads WA Traffic Management Accreditation Certificate and Wallet Card.

Students who would normally be attending year 12 or below in the current calendar year will be eligible to enrol at the commercial / international rate for this course.

- Steel capped boots
- Hi-visibility clothing
- Gloves
- Hat/sun protection
- Wet weather gear (the courses is delivered on-road in all weather conditions)
