Diploma of Early Childhood Education & Care

National ID: CHC50113 | State ID: J594

This childcare course is completed over 2 years commencing in Semester 1 each year. It is ideal for those persons with a passion for working with young children. There is a large emphasis on practical application of your skills. Work placements will be organised by the college in local early childhood enterprises. If you are already working in the industry, you may wish to enquire to study as a flexible student and complete assessments on work-based projects. Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is also available for people with substantive, recent industry experience in a licensed Early Childhood Education and Care setting.

This qualification is for educators in early childhood education and care services who are responsible for planning, implementing and managing programs in accordance with approvals, quality rating systems and duty of care requirements.

The training package does not specify any mandatory entry requirements into this course. However prospective students should note that a mandatory part of the course requires you to participate and complete a supervised work placement, in a suitable environment that provides the services in your selected area of
study. Before you commence work placement, you may be required to obtain a police clearance (approximately $72). Please check when you enquire as to whether a police clearance is required for your work placement.

It is strongly recommended you also consult with your doctor about having a flu vaccination.

Further information on work placement requirements can be obtained from the CHC Training Package Implementation Guide

Not all study modes are offered at all campuses. Please check with your local campus for study modes and elective units offered.
