    Getting to know your DSLR camera and how it works
    How to control the camera using manual modes, shutter speed, aperture and ISO controls
    Using your camera's light meter
    Understanding exposure
    Choosing the right lens for the job
    File formats – convenience versus quality
    Qualities of light, how and when to use it
    Editing in camera
    Photography genres - finding your own style
    Reviewing your work and learning from feedback
    Storing your files

    A DSLR camera or mirrorless camera with Manual mode option, capable of manually adjusting shutter speed, aperture and ISO controls is essential for this course.
    Lenses – interchangeable ones are an advantage, or broad range zoom lenses
    Image card, image card reader or camera to computer cord
    Charged camera batteries and charger
    USB or hard drive to store your files
    The manual for your camera (most manufacturers have online manuals you can download via the web if necessary)
    Your own laptop - essential
    Pen and notepad
    Good working knowledge of computers
