This qualification will provide you with practical skills and knowledge in a range of metals and engineering industry areas including mining, hydraulics, manufacturing and marine. Completing this course will prepare you to step into an Apprenticeship level course.
You will learn skills to accurately mark out a work piece, measure with a vernier and micrometre and read technical drawings. You will develop skills to competently use hand tools and machines in the workshop including drill presses, lathes, mills and oxy/ acetylene heating and cutting to complete projects.
You will also learn about safety in the workplace, computing and math. Pre apprentices will learn and practice their skills in the TAFE workshop and on the job, in the workplace.

The aim of this traineeship qualification is to provide learners with industry specific training and workplace learning to gain skills, knowledge and behaviours to enable transition into an indentured apprenticeship. Successful completion of this qualification provides you with the opportunity to become a trades assistant.
Certificate III in Engineering (NB. You will need to be employed and registered as an apprentice/trainee before you can further your studies in the Engineering industry).
