The aim of this course is to give registered Enrolled nurses the knowledge and skills to safely undertake administration and monitoring of intravenous medications and blood products in the nursing environment, in accordance with organisational policy and procedures.

How to apply

Entrance Requirements

Candidates must be registered with NMBA as an Enrolled nurse, hold a competency in an accredited unit/module related to administration of medication, and be currently employed in a health care setting where intravenous medications are administered.

  • You will need to provide the following evidence to meet pre-requisite requirements of the Intravenous Medication unit of competency:
  • Current registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Copy of current Medication Administration Competency or Statement of Academic Record
  • Current Job Position Statement

Important information

Workplace practice and assessments commence upon the satisfactory completion of all simulation assessments and health maths test.

Please Note:  Workplace assessment is essential in this unit and as such, access to the Healthcare industry is vital. South Regional TAFE does not offer work placement opportunities.

Delivery location, important dates and study options

In order to comply with COVID-19 Government directed social distancing guidelines, some courses may include a mix of online and classroom based training delivery, as well as practical and work experience placements.

While the mode of delivery might vary, the content and key learning outcomes of the course will remain the same.

The precise mix of delivery method will vary from course to course. The time, place and method of delivery may also vary across the semester to ensure social distancing and safe training delivery for staff and students during the COVID-19 pandemic.
